Every little PrettyBirds piece starts with the right feel. From breathable jersey and bamboo muslin to cozy minky and soft cotton, we choose fabrics with everyday comfort, little moments, and growing babies in mind.

Because the pieces you reach for most should feel just as good as they look — and stay that way, wash after wash.

Jersey — Soft, Stretchy & Breathable

Our signature 96% Polyester, 4% Spandex Jersey is used across many of our personalized essentials, including swaddles, sleep gowns, bodysuits, pajama sets, hats, headbands, and crib sheets.

Lightweight and gently stretchy, it moves comfortably with your little one while keeping our prints vibrant and full of detail.

Best for: Personalized apparel, swaddles, sleepwear, accessories & crib sheets.

Care: Follow the care instructions listed on each product. Many of our jersey personalized pieces recommend cold hand washing, hanging or laying flat to dry, and no bleach. Some smaller accessories are designed for cold machine washing on a gentle cycle.

Bamboo Muslin - Light, Airy & Naturally Soft

Our muslin swaddles are made from bamboo fiber in a lightweight, single-layer construction. Soft, breathable, and generously sized, they’re made for swaddling, stroller walks, nursing, cuddles, and everything in between.

The fabric is designed to become even softer with each wash, making it an easy everyday essential from the newborn days onward.

Best for: Swaddling, nursing, stroller use, cuddle time & everyday layering.

Care: Hand wash cold. Hang dry for best longevity. Do not bleach.

Minky Fleece - Plush, Cozy & Made for Keepsakes

For moments that call for extra softness, our milestone blankets are made from ultra-soft minky fleece — 100% polyester with a fluffy surface created from ultra-fine microfiber yarns.

It’s cozy enough for everyday snuggles and soft enough to make those monthly milestone photos feel even more special.

Best for: Milestone photos, keepsakes, cuddles & everyday blanket use.

Care: Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach.

Cotton - Soft, Breathable & Everyday Easy

Our embroidered snap rompers are made from soft, breathable cotton and finished with personalized embroidery for a classic, timeless feel.

Gentle against delicate skin and easy to wear, they’re designed to be the kind of everyday piece that feels special without feeling fussy.

Best for: Everyday wear, gifting, newborn photos & personalized essentials.

Care: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Wash with like colors. Turn inside out before washing to protect the embroidery. Use mild detergent. Tumble dry low or line dry. Do not bleach.

Microfiber + Cotton Terry - Soft on Top, Absorbent Below

Our bib and burp cloth sets pair a soft polyester microfiber or micro-mink front with a 100% cotton terry backing. The result is a practical combination: smooth and comfortable on the printed side, absorbent where you need it most.

Best for: Feeding, burping, everyday messes & gifting.

Care: Machine wash warm. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Wash separately and avoid fabric softener to help prevent pilling.

How to Care for Your PrettyBirds Pieces

1. Care Instructions

Because different fabrics need different kinds of care, always start with the care instructions on your specific product page. A jersey swaddle and a minky blanket may look equally soft, but they should not necessarily be washed or dried the same way. When in doubt, the care instructions listed for your product should always take priority.

2. Keep It Cool

Cold washing is the safest everyday choice for many of our personalized pieces. It helps reduce unnecessary stress on the fabric and print while keeping your little one’s favorites looking fresh. For products specifically marked for warm washing - such as our bib and burp cloth set - follow the product instructions instead.

3. Gentle Detergent

For baby essentials, we recommend using a mild detergent and avoiding harsh chemicals. Never use bleach unless a product specifically says otherwise. Our current product care instructions consistently advise against bleach.

4. Personalized Details

Personalized products deserve a little extra attention. For embroidered pieces, turn the garment inside out before washing to help protect the embroidery. For printed products, gentle washing and following the recommended drying method helps preserve the look and feel of the design.

5. Dry the Right Way

Drying matters just as much as washing. Some PrettyBirds pieces are best hang dried or laid flat, while others can be tumble dried on low. Always follow the instructions for your specific product.

Many PrettyBirds products feature vibrant, edge-to-edge or all-over prints designed to stay beautiful through everyday use. Because our products are personalized, we know these aren’t just clothes or blankets - they often become part of the memories you keep.

A little extra care helps protect those details, especially on pieces you wash frequently.

For personalized printed items, we recommend: Cold or product-specified washing • Gentle cycles when available • Mild detergent • No bleach • Avoid harsh washing conditions • Follow the product-specific drying instructions

Our existing care guidance also recommends turning printed items inside out where applicable and washing them separately from rough items such as zippers, jeans, or Velcro that may cause unnecessary abrasion.

One Important Thing About Fabric

Every Fabric Feels a Little Different

Soft doesn’t always mean the same thing.

A bamboo muslin swaddle feels light and airy. Jersey has a gentle stretch that moves with your baby. Minky feels plush and cozy. Cotton has that familiar, breathable everyday feel.

We choose each fabric based on what the product is made to do - whether that means swaddling, sleeping, playing, cuddling, feeding, or preserving a milestone.

That’s why we don’t try to make every PrettyBirds product from the same fabric. We choose the fabric that makes the most sense for the moment.

A Note About Natural Fabric Variations

You may occasionally notice tiny microfiber lines or dots on some of our printed products. These can occur naturally in the fabric during the pressing process and may appear black, blue, orange, or yellow. They are a characteristic of the material and production process, rather than a flaw in the print.

Choose the fabric that fits your moment, follow the care instructions made for it, and let your favorite pieces stay soft, personal, and beautiful for as long as those little moments last.
